Moabit BauCam

after long years of moving dirt from place to place, construction is now well underway at the corner of Birkenstrasse & Stromstrasse in Moabit. If you're not able to make a daily pilgrimage to the site of the former Paechbrot bakery to keep up with the goings on, the friendly locals at Stephanstrasse 60 have arranged for their BauCam to snap a shot of the baustelle every thirty minutes. Now you need never miss a moment of excitement!

Fascist Facades

Tonight the Zeughauskino screens four short films produced during the National Socialist dictatorship which present the regime's architectural aesthetic. Film expert Ralf Forster will provide an historical introduction to the shorts: Das Haus der Deutschen Kunst (1934, Armin Hausladen), Die Bauten Adolf Hitlers (1938, Walter Hege), Das Wort aus Stein (1939, Kurt Rupli) and Deutsche Arbeitsstätten (1940, Fritz Brunsch). I think we'll need extra popcorn for this one!
