Interesting to see. I struggle to find any merit in this proposition.
What is the point of trying to recreate a snippet of Manhattan before International Style has happened in the centre of 21st century Berlin?
...by destroying an absurd but amazing 60s radical modernist utopia.

hi Ivo!
it seems that this is Kollhoff's specialty - "nostalgic imitation of traditional formalism" - backwards into the future. One positive for this proposal - it would have made Alexa impossible!
Kollhoff is also the current president of the Bauakademie....

I agree, it's ghastly. I've seen more soul at a Kraftwerk gig (actually that's unfair, Kraftwerk 'got soul' in a different way...). But like you say, is it any worse than the Alexa and other stuff that's forthcoming in the Platz?
I assume this isn't from something that's on at the Berlinische at the moment?

no, it seemed to be part of their permanent collection. i was down there to see the john Heartfield exhibition and a screening of "Mutter Krausens Fahrt ins Glück" which, in addition to starring the lovely Ilse Trautschold, is the only silent film i am aware of with Berlinerisch intertitles!
